FAQs (RoomScan Pro LiDAR)

Please take a few moments to watch all the Top Tips videos on the (?) menu, which cover topics like scanning when there isn’t a vertical wall and how to scan curved walls.

If you prefer, we also have written Getting Started Instructions.

How do I transfer work between iPhone and iPad?

Under the list of room names, tap the “Details” button at the bottom. Then, on the following screen, tap “Transfer”. You can then send the .loco file to the other device that has RoomScan Pro installed. AirDrop is usually the easiest method if the device is nearby.

Currently 3D data is stored in iCloud and not within the .loco file. This means that the 3D data will be preserved if you open the .loco file on another device on the same iCloud account, but it will be lost if the .loco file is opened under a different iCloud account.

How can I get RoomScan to recognise a sloping ceiling?

When RoomScan asks you to show it the ceiling, it’s looking for a horizontal surface To get it to recognise a sloped surface as the ceiling height, tap and hold (long press) on the surface until the laser beam appears if you move the laser around, RoomScan will take an average of the heights

How do I add stairs?

Automatic stair scanning is in beta and will be available soon.

After you've scanned a room, you can add stairs by tapping the point in the room where the steps start and choosing "add symbol" from the circular menu. Once the stairs appear, you can rotate them by twisting with two fingers. If you don't see stairs on the list of symbols to add, please zoom in a bit and ensure you tap a location that's not on a wall.

Which laser measures work with RoomScan LiDAR?

RoomScan LiDAR works with any Leica DISTO that has Bluetooth SMART (the few models with the older Bluetooth are not compatible).

These are the cheapest compatible Leica DISTO measures in the US and UK respectively, and we highly recommend these particular models:

Amazon US: Leica DISTO E7100i 200ft Range Laser Distance Measure with Bluetooth

Amazon UK: Leica Geosystems D110 60 m Laser Distance Measure

The Bosch PLR/GLM 30/50 C are also compatible if they have Bluetooth. Please check the model you're looking at has a visible Bluetooth button. Various similar devices from other manufacturers also work. Due to minor usability problems, we recommend using the Leica DISTO range instead.

To start, go to RoomScan settings (via the help menu within the app itself) and choose “Pair with Bluetooth laser”. Once the pairing process is successful, go to the floor plan of an individual room and tap to select a wall in orange. Then zap that wall with your laser and the measurement should pop up for confirmation.

How do I join my rooms together into a floor plan?

It sounds like you've scanned each room onto a separate floor plan. Don’t worry, you can still connect them back together. To get started, start with the hallway if there is one, and tap a door that leads to another room. (You can add a door if it wasn't added during the scan by tapping on the wall.) Having tapped the door, choose "add room through door" from the circular menu. This is usually how you scan a new room and have it connected automatically, but look out for the "Join" button at the bottom of the screen. Once you tap "Join", the app will guide you through connecting your existing room.

How do I delete a room?

To delete a room, simply swipe its name to the left in the list of room names. This will reveal a red delete button (you can use the same trick in other apps, too).

How do I add a new floor?

To add a new floor, tap "New Room" above the list of rooms and enter a new floor name. The new room will appear on a new floor, separate from any existing rooms.

How do I rotate stairs and other symbols?

You can rotate stairs and other symbols by literally turning them using two fingers in a twisting movement. Select the symbol first by tapping it, so that the circular menu appears.

How do I resize symbols?

You can stretch or shrink symbols keeping their shape in proportion, or stretch the width/breadth independently.

Start by selecting the symbol, so that the circular menu appears around it.

To stretch in proportion, use a two finger “pinch” gesture diagonally across the shape.

To stretch just the length or breadth, use the same gesture but along the length or breadth of the symbol.
